It's February 1st and you've done exactly *zero* things towards bettering your finances.

Can you do it on your own? 100%

But if you're done with the slow progress and are serious about wanting to become better at managing your money a Custom Budget would be a solid, low cost investment.

By this time next week, you could be relaxed when you log into your bank account and actually excited to sit down and look at your budget and pay your bills!

I have 10 spots left for this month. DM me, or comment "Custom" to snag a spot!
Getting your finances in order was your 2023 New Years Resolution - and for the first week or so, you kicked butt! 💪

But an unexpected bill popped up, threw a wrench in your perfect budget and now you want to set the whole thing on fire. 🔥

I get it - it's infuriating when you spend a TON of time combing through your bank statements and putting a plan together only for it to go to shit when something happens you didn't plan for.

What if I told you there was a way to budget that allows you to plan for the unexpected & easily pivot and keep hitting your goals?

(spoiler: there is!) 🤭

Let me show you with a Custom Budget and Debt Freedom Plan - details @ link in bio
Did your healthcare premiums go up this year? Ours did... to the tune of an extra $160 per month! 😫

On top of that, we decided to opt into an FSA program which means even less in our pocket on my husband's check. (It works to our benefit for taxes, but doesn't do us any favors right meow) 🙃

In total, we're bringing in $273.66 LESS each month after taxes. 💸

I'm spilling the details in my group on how I'm pivoting in our budget to make up this income loss without sacrificing ALL the things we enjoy.

I did the bare minimum for our finances in the last 3.5-4 weeks. 😬

We're talking paid the bills, checked the bank maybe once to make sure we weren't negative, and tracked ZERO things.

Today I sat down to face the music and try to match things up between bank account/budget annd.... 🎶

There was no music.

I effectively ignored our finances for almost a month and we didn't have to pull from savings to recover (and we were able to cash flow an unexpected $200 furnace fee inside of the budget).

THAT is the definition of a realistic budget. One that is true to how you live your life, day in and day out; not what you WANT it to be.

I want to budget $400 for groceries in the Midwest for a family of four. But if I did that, I'd be setting myself up for stress, failure and feelings of inadequacy. It's not realistic. I'd be constantly chasing the unattainable and then feeling worthless when I don't reach the goal.

Point being, when you build a budget, it needs to reflect how you ACTUALLY spend your money. Only then will you be able to reach the financial goals you wrote down for yourself.
Friday Finance Tip

If you set a budget for yourself for the holidays this year and have gone over it, don't beat yourself up.

Let's face it, it's been a sh!t couple of years and I think it's safe to say we're all still feeling the emotional impact of what has happened.

Even with the best laid plans and intentions, it's easy to fall into the spending trap when we're constantly bombarded with advertisements and social media feeds highlighting new and shiny things.

IF YOU'RE LOOKING AT YOUR CREDIT CARD STATEMENT AND CRINGING, HERE'S WHAT I SUGGEST:
✨See if it would feel good to return anything. Can you take something back to reduce how much you've spent, or would you rather give that gift to someone?
✨ Acknowledge what you've spent and if it's over what you originally budgeted for.
✨ Adjust your savings goals for 2023 to account for a more realistic Holiday shopping budget. Take the amount you'd like to spend and divide by 10 (so you aren't waiting until December to buy all the things)
✨ Most importantly, give yourself GRACE! You're not a machine. Even if things didn't go to plan, it's important to understand what happened, why it happened, and how you can be better prepared next year.
If you're needing more support & or help coming up with a plan for next year, drop a comment below or dm me if you don't feel comfortable sharing with the group. I'm here for you 🥰

Happy Holidays and see you guys next week!

Love & Numbers,
Sarah
I helped my latest custom budget client find 10x his original investment PER MONTH in his budget. He's also on track to be consumer debt free by December next year and has already paid off two of his smaller credit cards.

He knew he could handle his money better, but had zero clue just how much he had to work with and how fast he could become consumer debt free.

He came to me ashamed of his current financial situation, and scared to ask for help.
After showing him how he can sustainably become debt free, he feels incredibly empowered and hopeful about his financial future.

It's never too late to make a change.
I have 8 spots left for the rest of this month to help you with your finances.

What are you waiting for?
